Rapid Disaster Response & Nutritional Shield

When severe super-cyclones strike the coastal shoreline of Bangladesh, floodwaters destroy standing crops, drown livestock, and contaminate drinking ponds with saline silt. In the immediate aftermath, acute starvation and water-borne epidemics threaten hundreds of thousands of isolated survivors.

As a verified Cooperating Partner (CP) of the United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP), RUSTIC mobilizes emergency logistics within 24 hours of cyclone landfall. Operating speedboats and mechanized trawlers, emergency teams deliver dry food rations, fortified nutrition packets for infants, and water purification tablets across inundated coastal chars.

Key Operational Protocols

  • 24-Hour Rapid Needs Assessment: Deploying trained field enumerators to map flood inundation and identify high-risk pregnant women, children, and elderly persons.
  • High-Energy Biscuit (HEB) Distribution: Supplying micro-nutrient fortified biscuits providing 450 kcal per packet to prevent acute child wasting.
  • Emergency Water Purification: Distributing millions of water purification tablets (Aquatabs) and mobile solar water treatment kits.
